Akyaka is situated in the province of Muğla, in the southwest of Turkey, at the eastern end of the Gökova gulf, between Marmaris, Muğla and Bodrum. Important sights like Ephesus,  Pamukkale and Aspendos are reachable in a day trip.
The number of inhabitants in Akyaka amounts in the winter to approximately 1500, in the summer  it almost doubles. Akyaka's delightful position at the end of the Gökova gulf, bordered in the north by the almost 1000m high Sakartepe, in the south by the wetlands of the Gökova plain ("heaven's plain") with it's abundance  of wildlife, particularly water birds, takes the visitor into it's spell. In a lovely setting on the edge of Akyaka, the little group of the charming  Tomsan Villas and Okaliptus Apartments,  stand close to the river amidst eucalyptus glades and citrus groves, backed by pine-forested peaks.
They enjoy a peaceful location yet the centre of Akyaka - and the sea - are just 10 minutes away by foot, as are the handful of delightful restaurants which are set on the river just upstream.
